Kalamang D18 Overview
Kalamang D18 is the official name of the boat, but we just call it 'Kalamang.' With its forward-facing seats, guests are more comfortable, and nobody needs to have to sit near the engines. And around those engines is a dive platform, protective frames, and ladders for divers to easily climb out of the water, with or without fins on.
The boat's team are very well organised, with free transfers from local hotels to the departure pier just south of Khao Lak. At 8am the boat sails out to The Similan Islands or Richelieu Rock safely and smoothly. Between dives, guests enjoy lunch on a beach, not on the boat. Yes, if the trip goes to Similans, you have lunch on the beach there, an on Richelieu Rock days, the boat goes to the nearby Surin Islands for lunch. Of course, this is dependent on weather and sea conditions each day.
Rental diving equipment is of the highest quality, and Nitrox is available for certified divers. Diving insurance is also included.
Finally, unlike many other boats that need a high number of paying guests to confirm a trip, Kalamang has a Plan B. If just a few divers book to join a trip, Kalamang has a sister speedboat that is ready to be used. This other boat is smaller, and therefore uses less fuel. But its design and standard of construction remains veery high.
